The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the primary federal agency involved with health care. Its mission is to protect the health of all Americans and to provide essential human services, especially to those least able to help themselves. It comprises 11 major operating divisions, including those that make up the Public Health Service. Three of these divisions are the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Research and write a 4-6 page report on one of the following agencies: NIH, FDA, or CDC. Be sure to explain the agency’s role in health services. How does the organization increase the health security of our nation? What are some examples of advances of the organization in our public health history, and what is the mission of the organization going into the future? Finally, what are the primary concerns of those who oppose an expanded role of government in health care? All written submissions should reflect professionalism in grammar, spelling, writing style/format (one-inch margins, double spaced, typed in 12-point Times New Roman font), include APA 6th citations when appropriate, an appropriate title page, and be uploaded as .doc or .docx documents.
