Initial Post Instructions If a regression analysis was to be completed on body mass index (BMI), what could be an independent variable in that analysis? Why? If we could, what other independent variables should be included in the analysis? What statistic(s) would show the value of that regression in understanding BMI? Writing Requirements • APA format for in-text citations and list of references The Big Picture – Week Eight Even when we know the relationship that should exist between two variables, our data rarely perfectly reflects that. Inaccuracies in our measurements or the limitations of our measuring devices will almost always introduce small errors or inaccuracies. In this module, we’ll look at the methods available for finding the equation that “best fits” a data set. Supplemental Materials / Lectures Calculating a Regression Line (Links to an external site.) This presentation introduces the basic concepts of the process of calculating a regression line. The Correlation Coefficient (Links to an external site.) The correlatoin coefficient gives us a way of measuring how strong a relationship there is between our two variables. What’s Puzzling Me We all have things that we find puzzling. Why does that light stay red for so long? Why did the price of milk go up again? Technical material can be especially puzzling. I’m taking an online course right now in a computer science subject called Algorithms and I can’t quite get my head around why a binary search algorithm takes as long as it does to finish. Tell me what it is about this week’s material that you found puzzling, how you tried to solve it and where you ran into trouble. I’m looking for details – not just a general statement.
