How is technology changing what it means to be human

 Complete a rhetorical analysis of three texts grounded in a contemporary social issue in order to analyze how writers persuade their audiences. You will be analyzing text, film, blogs, speeches, that examine how technology is changing what it means to be human. Review the movie “The Truman Show” by Peter Weir OR the NYT article by Sherry Turkle ” The Flight from Conversation”, any speech or TED Talk of your choice, and any Blog post. For each, you will explore how the writers construct an argument and determine the overall effectiveness of their approaches. The purpose of this assignment is to provide you the opportunity to consider how writers use elements of language to inform and persuade the audiences, in particular, how writers persuade different audiences using varied genres. Genres are modes of written expression that require the application of specific rhetorical techniques, style, tone, and content. Requirements: -Identify a way technology is changing what it means to be human -Find two sources as outlined above that tackled this issue. (the first source must be The Truman Show) -For each source explore the central idea of the text and craft a thesis (topic sentence) that states the central idea and how the writer examines it (you are not arguing which source is most persuasive) -Analyze the structure, language, and style of the argument as well as the argument’s relationship to the genre in which it is presented.
