Witness Paper #2

This analysis should be based on two things: the textbook concepts from chapters 3, 4, and/or 5 as well as your observation of a television show or movie of your choice. Be sure to choose one that involves small groups (as defined by the textbook). Examples would be The Office, Modern Family, Scandal, NCIS, Stand By Me, 12 Angry Men, Apollo 13, or many others of your choice. You may use the same movie or television show for more than one Witness Paper.

  • The analysis must include the definitions of at least three cited references from the text. Choose concepts from chapters 3, 4, and/or 5.
  • The analysis must include an explanation of how or at what point you witnessed the concept in the media piece. Support and explain how you KNOW this concept was exhibited. Supporting or explaining your insights with the most specific examples will ensure a better understanding for the reader.
  • The Witness Paper should include insight after the analysis about how these concepts highlighted in the paper matter in real life. How does this apply to you in your current employment situation? Or how might it apply in the future? How does this impact your family interactions? You’ve read and studied the concepts, so how will the ideas or do the ideas impact the application in real life?
  • Be sure to include these four items to help the reader understand the TV or movie:
    • the name of the show and episode or movie
    • the task trying to be solved by the characters
    • the names of the characters who make up the small group
    • and the three concepts highlighted in the paper You will need to listen analytically to the messages presented in the show/movie, listening for verbal and nonverbal cues which will allow you to recognize individual differences among the characters.

This paper should
