Safety for young children,

ACTIVITY ASSIGNMENT Students will design an activity based on a topic related to safety for young children, for example, Fire Safety, Water Safety, Winter Safety, etc . This resource must be a teaching activity which is “reusable” (material which can be used over and over again). Commercial (store bought) games and products may not be used. The activity must be homemade. Students may select either the toddler (18 – 30 months) or preschool age group (2 1/2 – 5 yrs) for this assignment. Students will complete a written document to accompany the materials. The written component will explain the concepts that the child will gain from this activity. Template must be used or students will receive a mark of 0. Students are required to include at least two pictures of the assignment that show all aspects outlined in the marking criteria, and the completion of the activity. The written component will include the following headings: 1. Name and Description – name of the activity and describe of the activity that you created 2. Selected Age Group – age group of children is outlined 3. Reasoning for Activity Choice – why the activity would be appropriate for the selected age group; 4. Materials – list all materials required to implement the activity with a group of children 5. Concepts/knowledge – what development/learning will the child gain from this activity? List at least 4 points 6. Instructions – how does the child use or participate in the activity? 7. Resources – outline resources (at least one planning resource, and one children’s book) used to develop the activity, cited in APA format 8. Health and Safety Considerations – include all health and safety issues to be considered when presenting the activity NOTE: this is not the health and safety content that the activity addresses, but rather any health and safety related considerations, e.g. using non-toxic materials. *Activity Template and marking scheme is outlined below. ACTIVITY TEMPLATE- WRITTEN COMPONENT: Name of Student Teacher: Name and Description of Activity (2 marks): Age of Children ( 1 mark): Planning Resources : (APA Format) (1 mark) Children’s Storybook (APA Format) (1 mark) Reason for Activity Choice (3 marks): Materials Required for Activity Implementation: (3 marks) Concepts/ Knowledge (4 marks): 1) 2) 3) 4) Instructions, Rules/Guidelines (include 3) (3 marks): 1) 2) 3) Health and Safety Considerations ( 4 marks): 1) 2) 3) 4) Add pictures here.

The Eros Effect of the French Revolution

Read George Katsiaficas, The Global Imagination of 1968, foreword, preface, and pp. 1-210. Here, you will learn about what Katsificas (following the philosopher Herbert Marcuse) calls the “politics of eros”and the “eros effect”–respectively, radical politics based on a sense of limitless possibility and great waves of activism that express such politics. The book presents a global survey of such uprisings from 1968 into the early 1970s and, in some places, beyond. (You do not have to read the book, just familiarize yourself with the Eros Effect and Eros Politics). Essentially, I will be providing a photo of the French Revolution of 1968. Explain the revolution and the student involvement .Then explain how the primary source exemplifies the Eros Effect. The essay should be typed in a standard font and double-spaced. It should also be proofread and copyedited before it’s submitted. Papers that fall short of these minimal standards or do not meet the requirement as to length will have to be revised and resubmitted.

Public Administration/Policy Brief

Public Administration/Policy Brief (See Below)

Professor Instructions: Policy Brief Choose a policy topic related to your chosen MPA Certificate. You will be required to develop a policy brief related to the topic. Assume as if you are a government administrator in charge of an agency. You should write the policy brief to an elected policymaker in state or local government in Florida with regard to the initiation of a NEW, but politically and policy realistic course of action for the government agency. For example, a hot topic in public finance and human resources is the future of the traditional defined benefit pension system. Assume you are Florida’s Senior Defined Contribution Programs Officer (Links to an external site.) (yes, this is a real position). You could then write a piece titled “What form of pensions should public agencies adopt?” You could define the problems facing public pensions and give the pros and cons of adopting the form of pension that is typically given. Another example is from the emergency management realm. A major question for an emergency manager/ resiliency officer/ chief planner in a coastal city in Florida could be: “What should the city do to combat sea level rise?” You might outline the pros and cons of various methods and speculate on how we could do it better. Ideally, you should use some form of weighing between the alternatives (e.g. cost-benefit analysis, SWOT analysis) to arrive at your recommendation. (Yes, you might do well to revisit the materials from the Policy Analysis course.) Your policy brief should: lay out the nature of the problem provide extensive background analysis drawing from real data and actual policy information from relevant agencies present policy alternatives (more than one) to address the problem being discussed (including those individuals or groups likely to support or oppose each of the policy options) evaluate the alternatives on certain independent criteria advocate what appears to you to be the best possible solution to the problem. The analysis should include the political implications of the course of action that you propose. This paper will have a one or two page executive summary at the beginning. The major focus of this assignment is a complete and comprehensive review of the nature of the problem and evaluation of the policy alternatives.

Assignment Two: Final Paper – Waves of Immigration (Due Week 6) Instructions: This final paper will be 7-9 pages, NOT including title and reference pages, in which you analyze the future direction of stratification in the U.S. In this assignment, you will include: 1) A description of the latest wave of mass immigration, which began in the 1960s. Discuss in detail the particular issues of stratification faced by this latest wave of immigrants, integrating our course materials. 2) A comparison of the impact of the latest wave (approximately 1960s-now) with the first wave (approximately 1820s-1920s) of immigrants in terms of: types of populations involved, causes for immigrating, and overall impact on U.S. society, drawing from our course materials. 3) Your own analysis of how you think the negative consequences of stratification could be improved in society for one particular disadvantaged group of your choosing. What are the specific actions that could be taken and in what areas of social life would the steps create positive change? In doing so, you must apply: Two concepts (i.e. discrimination, racism, sexism, ethnocentrism, etc.) from our materials and/or outside scholarly readings for this group. Two theories (i.e. conflict theory, interactionist theory, feminist theory, critical race theory, etc.) from our materials and/or outside scholarly readings for this group. Note – you may find our Sociological Theories and Concepts Toolkit to be helpful (found in Announcements). In addition to our course materials, you will significantly incorporate research throughout the paper from at least 5 meaningful up-to-date resources, 2 of which must be from reputable, peer-reviewed academic journals. Your paper should utilize sound critical thought and it should include appropriate APA in-text citations and full APA references. The structure of the paper must include the following, with subheadings: — TITLE PAGE (1 page) — BODY OF PAPER WITH SUBHEADINGS (7 pages minimum) — REFERENCE PAGE (1 page minimum) Fitzgerald, Kathleen J.. Criminal Justice Leadership and Issues in Diversity

Criminal Justice Leadership and Issues in Diversity…

Paper details:

George is a college student in North Carolina. Every weekend, he drives into Georgia to visit his family. George’s family is well-respected and are influential members of their community. They are wealthy enough to give George a good education and supply him with an upscale, flashy, and expensive automobile. George is very religious, has extremely high ethics, but is also an eccentric and unique individual. He does not follow the trends in clothing or personal presentation. He has long hair, a flashy car, and wears “hippie” attire. Every time he travels through the northern counties of Georgia, he is either stopped by the Georgia Highway Patrol or the local sheriff’s office. They stop him because he fits the profile of a drug dealer. The Georgia Highway Patrol and the local sheriff’s office have policies and procedures pertaining to drug trafficking. The highway that George is traveling is known as a “drug pipeline.” Do you think these repetitive stops are reasonable? Why or why not? What would be the reasoning behind the stops? Explain. If these stops are based on policy and procedure in your state, what would the major in the Georgia Highway Patrol and the sheriff of the local county say to officers who did not stop George? Explain. If the patrol had a field training officer (FTO), and you were a new recruit, how would you react if the FTO said “just skip him”? On his last trip home, George passed a large city, and the highway patrol stopped him. This officer carried tools and a battery-powered screwdriver. He proceeded to take George’s car apart, piece by piece. When he did not find drugs, this officer just drove off, leaving George stranded. It was found that this officer just received a commendation for the highest amount of drug busts on this highway. Should he be put up as an example of a good leader to follow for other drug officers? Why or why not? Explain your rationale. Support your answers with scholarly sources and research into the laws and policies of your state. STATE is MARYLAND
